Manual tranny, fully optioned, Silver with red interior and even had the Astroroof! Remember it being glass, not plexi, because a rock hit it coming out of Washington, DC in 1979. The glass did not totally fail, but the impact blew thousands of little chips into the interior, all over my new bride! State Farm Insurance could NOT believe the price it took to replace that top glass. When the baby came, I had to sell it. 1980. Went to a travelling representative here in Raleigh. Always wondered what happened to that Skyhawk.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5112355325821745788.post-37582145100917177962014-02-16T12:54:38.043-08:002014-02-16T12:54:38.043-08:00Looking back at the Skyhawk in the post from 2012,...Looking back at the Skyhawk in the post from 2012, the windshield trim on that Skyhawk is different. I'm more convinced that this is an Astroroof.

I had a Monza hatch in college that I had a love hate relationship with. Horribly built car, but good looking and fun. I always wanted to build a removable roof targa using the glass from an Astroroof as the removable panel.salguodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13017605035795415308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5112355325821745788.post-40654178953483705222014-02-14T16:05:50.954-08:002014-02-14T16:05:50.954-08:00Just saw those underbody slats (visible from the b...Just saw those underbody slats (visible from the back) that keep the car sucked to the road and straight at VEESIXsupercar speeds.Ben Piffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07805306243851560129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5112355325821745788.post-39347384548258342252014-02-14T15:04:09.629-08:002014-02-14T15:04:09.629-08:00If this is an Astroroof, then it's an even big...If this is an Astroroof, then it's an even bigger candidate for Best Of.Justinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5112355325821745788.post-8016610973083100992014-02-14T13:05:38.467-08:002014-02-14T13:05:38.467-08:00The upper windshield trim and the trim above the d...The upper windshield trim and the trim above the doors is what's making me think so. There shouldn't be trim above the doors and the trim above the windshield shouldn't be that big. The stainless band is another one, but I think they put those on non-Astroroof cars too.salguodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13017605035795415308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5112355325821745788.post-48457907938013221792014-02-14T12:03:27.840-08:002014-02-14T12:03:27.840-08:00whoa. i don't think it is, salguod, but i'...whoa. i don't think it is, salguod, but i'll check my pics when i get home.Tony Piffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13118128463425138509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5112355325821745788.post-82808043903088790152014-02-14T10:07:01.720-08:002014-02-14T10:07:01.720-08:00This isn't simply a rare Skyhawk, it looks to ...This isn't simply a rare Skyhawk, it looks to be an even rarer Astroroof with the large, fixed Plexiglas panel in the roof. None of them, Chevrolet Monza, Buick Skyhawk, Oldsmobile StarFire, & Pontiac Sunbird,----Actually I have seen a PONTIAC Sunbird very, very recently. I looked at the registration and I found out it's a 1979 two door notchback in nice condition. I personally think the car survived all these years being in some elderly person's house which probably was just recently handed down. The problem is this car is a long way from Portland it's in the Bronx!!
