Great find! Haven't seen one of these on the road in 30+ years.

Some people considered these ugly but I knida like it. The Nader bumpers are awful but they were pretty awful on everything back in '74.

Air cooled VWs of any kind almost impossible to find in NY nowdays..

Can someone help me? I just saw a late 80s to early 90s hatchback that I don't remember seeing before. I'm almost certain it was a Ford because it said "Powered by Ford" on the back. The actual badge had been removed from the rear. It had two side doors that seemed to have vertical handles along the windows and a large trunk door. It also had longer slim front headlights. I was in the middle of an important call and I didn't have the time to really look at it and then of course when I was done with that it was gone.

From the side it almost looks like a little baby Volvo

Isn't that an old pick up in the back ground on one of your shots, surely that is deserving of it's own post.

That Courier's already been posted I think.

Ooh, a 412! On the street!

Why the effusive comment?

I've one, a '74 fastback and I can say that spotting one on the street is nigh impossible.

Very rare even in VW meets & swaps.

(URL below if someone is interested.)

These VW's were rare even in the 70's I like the dual headlights. Nice soothing shade of blue too.

That's my car. I love it. It's drives but it is a bit gutless. It needs a rebuild.
