the barely-lowered stance, the perfect sky blue paint, the rusted trunk, the leather, the black fenders, the chrome hubcaps and bumpers, the license plate behind the windshield, the vintage eighties skis, the doll--this is so, so tastefully done and so hilariously cool.

What is with the rusted hood in the VW scene?? That's not cool... you look like a welfare recipient who can't afford to paint your hood.

Lower it.

What is with the Rabbit bumpers? Can you say 'I looks like a junkyard scroungin fool'..?

This is how it should look:

Um....Jetta bumpers are notorious for rusting underneath the plastic covers, and those are not obtainable anymore. The car in that Flickr pic looks like a European bumpkin's car. Blah.
There's a reason why the US versions had nicer trim.

Even though I have an '84 Jetta coupe, I dislike that rusted-hood fad. It started with plaid hoods. Then, chalkboard paint hoods. Now artificially-rusted hoods, and painted-on rusted hoods.

"He cried the day the wrecker came.
Even the cop asked, 'Man, whad you have in that thing?"
