Motor was same as Quantum. Funny how it looks like a shrunken Volvo 780 Bertone from a distance. This may have had either 4cyl, 5cyl or even a diesel...

Not just the motor, I'd say the entire chassis, transmission etc. What you call Audi 4000 we here in Europe we call the 2nd gen Audi 80. The 1st gen Audi 80 was the basis for the 1st gen VW Passat (called the Dasher in the US) - it was a genuine Audi design that with a different badge/front grill and rear end became a VW. Most of this design was then carried over to the next generation. It was only in the next generation that they started to differ into more distinct Audi/VW "flavors"
