looks clean, straight, well kept, and well used.

Wonderful to see this old 164. These things are rare as heck. Driving one of these during a winter in the mid-seventies made me fall in love with Volvos. The neat trick for getting rolling in one of these when driving in snow is to start out in second gear. Somehow this worked for me just wonderfully.

Post more Volvos!

Had a 1975 164E in college...one of the least favorite cars I've owned. This one looks nice, but it cured all curiosity of future Volvo ownership.

These were actually pretty awful, only marginally better than the farm tractor 144s. The engine is aven more agricultural than most steam shovels.

My sister had one in college...What a pile of crap. The Edsel of Sweden.

On another note, these are no way comparable to the 144...any red block will outlast a dozen of these.

it's a swedish XJ6! the styling on volvos has steadily declined from about this point on. you could argue the point that the last true boxes were still visually striking enough to set them apart from the herd, but the stuff they've been churning out lately has none of the identity that these early cars possess.
