What a beautiful sight! A French low rider?! (dig the china red wheels). I'm moving to Oregon. You guys are nuts! Vive la France! The only uglier cars were American- namely the Chevrolet Celebrity and Citation.

There must be only a handful of these left on the road

This is Renault 11. I didnt know that it was avalaible at US as Encore - as always headlights are changed according to US specs - originally it has 1 big headlight instead of 2 small rectangular

Definitely only a handful left. That's quite the 2-tone.

There is a mechanic at a local shop that has a GTA Alliance Convertible in mint condition that is used as a daily driver. And this is in Canada!

I largely restored an Alliance convertible, which was donated back to us to use as a shop vehicle; and I STILL thought it was trash!

There's a cherry one of these running locally though. Bronze-ish, original owner. I do find myself looking at it.

The heater was killer though.

Back then, the Renault "tag-line" in their advertising was "The One to Watch"...not sure this is what they had in mind.

in my opinion amc was the one responsible for trashing the renaults image in north america.making some stupid changes to alliance'scooling system that most of those ended up blowing headgaskets and everyone were blaming renault for amc'sfault.i used to work at amc/renault dealer in 80s in phoenix and had to work on most alliance/encores been sold.

Thats a later model as it has the tiny square headlamps and grill. My aunt had an 84 and the header panrlel is different. The most persistent problem was the starter if memory serves me right
