That B pillar though.

I love how the front license plate is expertly, almost lovingly, smashed and bent.

If anything defined Grumpy Cat's Malaise Era, it had to be the Ford Fairmont/Mercury Zephyr.
These cars were rolling pieces of crap! My SIL had an' 80 Zephyr 4-door sedan. I always had
to start it for her when she came to visit us. She always had truoble with the carbeurator
flooding out. I finally learned from my Dad that this car had an electric fuel pump located in
the gas tank instead of on the engine block. Whenever my SIL turned the key, she pumped
the gas at the same time--flooding the carb! It took me a few times to teach her NOT to tap
the gas before starting the engine. There were a lot of other problems too, but I can't recall
them just now.

Those hubcaps are a travesty on an otherwise perfect Malaise Ford. Still, an easy fix. Love the plaid interior.

Interesting to see, as they became rare about 5 months after they left the showroom- but DAYUM! These were from Ford's "crap period"...the very pinnacle of that period! My sister had one in the 90's...she deserved it! :D Consumers Digest raved about these rolling turds as "ahead of their time". That is when I realized that Consumer Digest (or was it Consumer Reports?) was full of shiat!

Looking at this, the Durango makes sense... the car looks better without that tacked on rear greenhouse.

Is that the correct interior photo for this car? Look at the window line next to the back seat - that isn't the window line for the Fairmont Futura - it looks more like the window line for a sedan or two door Fairmont.

I was thinking the same thing, Anonymous- it looks like the interior is from a 4-door car. And if you blow up the 1st pic, you can see that interior is different than the int. pic.

Thanks for that catch guys! My photo library had that one out of order, indeed from a different car.
