What's that shiny little triangle along the rear window pillar? What's the Lambda Sond badge mean? I've definitely seen that badge from a distance on cars driving by, now I'm very intrigued.

Nice photo of the Volvo...but it's not a '77. Among other things the '77 still had a flat trunk lid. This is a '78 or later...not sure when they transitioned to the newer style trunk lid.

Oh, should have replied to Ben's question - the Lambda badge refers to the Lambda Sond emissions control system that included (among other things) an oxygen sensor at the tail end of the exhaust manifold.

The little "A" things are just functionless adornments.

Hi, the "V" badge in the c-pillar is for hiding a welding seam between the roof and the pillar.

i have a 1980 Volvo 242 just like this, but mine is metallic gun metal grey, very fun car. definitely a keeper.
