What a wonderful example. My father bought a slightly-used 1978 Corolla SR5 Liftback in 1979, shortly after we returned to the States from a Navy posting in Spain. (I was 3 at the time). He drove that car until 1992 or 93. I feel like I was raised in it. I would love to find a decent example and buy it as a gift to my Dad. Maybe someday I will. I saw a running one here in Raleigh, NC as recently as a year ago.

I used to own one of these... a 77 orange SR5 liftback. It was in mint shape, I got rid of it because I got bored with the orange color. Now, I regret it. Oh well.

I LOVE THIS CAR. I am a 40yo, business professional. In 1986, this was my first car. I was 60lbs lighter, and 6in shorter (so was the women I dated then *lol*) so we where able to make use of the fact that the back seats fold down under the hatchback *wink*. Boy, if this pic don't bring back memories...

When I was 18, the first "love of my life" owned this car. It gave me such a thrill to watch him come down the street and park in front of my parent's house. This certainly does bring back memories...it was that same color blue, minus the stripe on the side. And yes, I know all about those fold down seats...lol!
