Too bad they pimped it with the low-rider suspension and wheels. Otherwise a beautiful Type 3!

Easy Plag, anyone who makes a cool car cooler is cool in my book. Besides, a roof rack and slats is way unpimp. Quality resto look- the owner has to be a happy camper!

Was the notchback ever officially imported?

yeah, it was.

Actually no problem , you can change the wheels from original - not against the rules - but these wheels are not in good harmony with this car anyway....

I remember a black type 3 from OPC - posted a year ago or something - I sometimes go back and find the pictures of that car - 66 fastback - eventhough i am not big fan of type 3 , that car is a character

Hate the stance, could take or leave the wheels, love the roof rack.

@ Tony - you sure about that? I know they were imported to Canada. Didn't think they were officially brought to the US. AFAIK, most Notchbacks here were originally from the Great White North, or came from overseas by home-bound US military.

i was sure about it, but i was wrong, and i regret the error.

anyway, i feel comfortable calling this the most beautiful vw ever--in stock form, of course.

looks like ben spotted this one in the same neighborhood--i figured these were "befores" and "afters" of the same car, but looking at the license plates, i guess not.

LOL. That's my old car! This was my first car in high school in California, I was the second owner. Bought it for $1600 and sold it for $11,500 :} Slamming to the ground was the cool thing to do back in 82. No low rider suspension here just KYB's and a big motor! Miss it but it had to go. Sorry but it still looks sweet! I owned the car for almost 28 yrs. Crazy! See U Notch!

Lowered suspension and low profile tires usually rides like a log truck.
