Cadet trim was a one- or two-year-only thing, I believe. Not very common - if you see early Cavs at all anymore, they're generally the "sporty" Type 10 or hotter Z24 versions. Not to mention convertibles, of course. Wagons? Thought they were all gone...

The Cadet was a late year 1982 addition. It had decontented equipment, black instead of bright exterior trim and painted metal bumpers. It was similar to the base 1983 models save for the painted bumpers. This was done to lower the price of the better equipped base 1982 Cavalier, which was marketed as the "complete" small car, but most thought of it as over priced. For 1983, equipment on base cars was reduced along with the price, and sales picked up.
