nice logo placement on the door and beneath re-curved fin. is that just a really bad rattlecan paintjob?

I wonder about that, it almost looks like a bad paint texture. Like maybe too much paint over a surface that wasn't prepped. Maybe the elusive paint-over-patina. But there was an original color that was similar to this, so I don't know. Yeah that front door hook and logo are what caught my eye, very original.

That's a '61, not a '62. The wheel covers are polished ('61) rather than brushed ('62), the "LANCER" callout on the front door is in block letters ('61) rather than script ('62), there's an emblem after the "LANCER" callout ('61) vs. none ('62), the taillamps have a chrome spot in the middle ('61) rather than an inner chrome ring ('62), the trunk lid "770" badge is small ('61) rather than large ('62), the trunk lid itself has no central longitudinal ridge ('61 -- the '62 had such a ridge), the rear quarter glass trim is stainless ('61) vs. mylar-filmed plastic ('62) and from the side-on and frontal shots we can see that the hood emblem, headlight bezels and grille are '61 rather than '62. We can also see the separate removable cowl grille which marks this as an early-production '61 (late '61 + '62 had no removable cowl grille) I wonder where in Oregon this is -- great capture! Compare the '62 shown here.

I hate those cars... talk about FUGLY. It looks like it would be designed by AMC in the 70's. A fishbowl roof paired with fins??? Uh, weren't fins played out by 1960? That paint and mold makes this POS look like Swamp Thing. Hahaaaaaa.

I'd rather drive a Gremlin, Pinto, Pacer or even a Le Car over this UGLY junk. lol

i don't hate these cars, but i agree that they have not aged well. i think the valiant version was done up as a wagon, too, and it's a real aesthetic trainwreck.

still waiting to find one.
