I thought the '77 through '79 Cougars were very nice cars. The problem was that Ford completely diluted what a Cougar was with this series - my father even had a '77 Cougar wagon. The platform and design sharing between this, the LTD II and the Thunderbird was significant - the third photo could just as well be an LTD II 2-door. They also shared the exact same instrument panels across all 3 models.

Doubt somebody would put a Cougar badge as a replacement. :P

Anyway, this thing is BADASS. I'd blast some RATM while crusing in this baby.

I should apologize - I meant to say "5th" picture - not the "3rd" one. The profile is exactly the same as the LTD II.

It's sad what happened to Cougar from '68 to '78 ... earlier was a small muscle car and the newer looks more like an econobox.

Not the only model going downhill but one of many.

someone put a cougar front nose on an ltd 2 as well as the badge on the trunk. the cougar rear ends and opera windows were quite different than these. just google them to see.

This is a Cougar and not a LTD II, the hood would have a hump above each of their vertical headlights and the trim on the tail lights on the Ford version did not have the emblem, I have 2 four door Cougars.
