Parallel Parked in a Parallel Universe: 1985 Volkswagen Scirocco Doppelgangers.

If you're driving south on a certain close-in East Portland thoroughfare, you'll catch a glimpse of this sunbaked red-orange Scirocco off to your right, parked in front of a tan-and-white house. (It lives two blocks from my office, and I first photographed it almost four years ago to the day.) Here's the thing: Continue south on that same stretch of road, and about 10 blocks later, you'll pass through a paranormal vortex, and the car will magically re-appear in the exact same location, parked in front of another, miraculously similar tan-and-white house. I kid you not.

I've been meaning to document this supernatural phenomenon for about a year, but the cosmos always conspired against me. Yesterday morning I finally found myself on this route with enough time to pull over for both cars, and the light was just right. Photos don't lie!

Yeah, my Uncle Frank had one of these only in Silver. He told me that the car was
very quick handled well. I believe his also had a spoiler at the rear too. I haven't seen
any of these since I moved to Florida in the mid '80's. Down here, these would be
considered exotic vehicles so the mechanics here wouldn't know anything about them.
I was, however, quite surprised to see a couple of Rolls-Royces here in Winter Haven.
You gotta wonder how they keep those cars running!

Thanks for your diligence and taking the trouble to document this odd coincidence. Cool to know that such an unlikely conjunction exists and was documented here.

I don't think I've ever stopped to shoot one of these, because they always seem like they're trying too hard. Specifically, they always seem like they have aftermarket wheels (like that first). But that second one makes them that much more legit, and yes I have seen one or both recently and turned down the photo op for the above thought process. But well done!
