I have no recollection of photographing this car, which I discovered on my computer late last night and photoshopped within an inch of its life. Happy Sunday!

That half-vinyl roof is fantastic.

Wow, how could you forget this? I don't think I'd be able to sit on this, the rear angle is crazy. Well photoshopped and shot too! I hardly bring my camera out in the summer sun.

so jealous of that owner right now, this is no.2 in my top 3 favorite Datsuns. The curvy body looks way cooler than the 510 imo and I love that rear end, hockey stick taillights are such a cool design element.
the home market ones were called the violet, pair it with the performance option and you have the violet 1600 triple s. ends up sounding cooler than 710. would look even better with some 4 lug cragars imo.
you guys are finding allot of rarer jems, keep em commin.

Tony and Ben,

Can you comment on what you mean when you say you "photoshopped" this? I know it's photo editing software, but what did you do with it on this set? Thanks!

@frank: i used a couple different processes to pull detail out of the blown highlights and get the shadows not so black. that's all.

Looks pretty clean in white with those Centerline wheels.

@gwt, if you love this car then you should look at the Mazda Cosmo/rx5 from the same era. you get all the cool rear end treatment in a better-proportioned body with neat late '70s pseudo waterfall grille and quad round front. the mazda is far beyond the datsun in terms of styling just because of the interesting b/c pillar design.

@sexyhammer, yes,I've seen the rx5 and I agree that it has more going on in the styling department and the hockey stick taillights on the rx5 are far more refined than the ones on the 710. the only reason I like this one a little better is because of the roundness of the body lines, the rx5 has more of a boxy shape. that little window in the b/c pillar on the rx5 is cool though If I recall you could roll that little window up or down for ventilation. if I had a choice I'd take both. they both bring their own version of awesomeness to the table.
