"The [First 2 K Cars, Aries and Reliant] are largely credited for helping Chrysler recover from bankruptcy. They also raised the standard for quality for American automakers in general."

I'll believe part of that statement, but I can't stomach the rest of it.

Such horrible cars with such a strange appeal. Does not compute.

So generic, yet, it has some kind of appeal.

As bad a rep as these had, they did sell a metric crap ton of them. No matter how bad a design is, one that has made it this far must have been one of the ones built on a good day!

Most of Chrystler had that same crappy 2.2 motor in it: K cars, Caravan/Voyager, Omni/Horizon, Daytona/Laser, Lebaron/NYer, etc. The head gasket was notorious for cracking

You all know what, heres the scoup, I was desparate for a puddle jumper in 2002. A buddie at work said he had the perfect car for me, 1981 1/2 RELIANT 3-SPEED SLANT SIX, If I wanted it, he told me how he had passed this car down thru his ex and two teenagers who grew " bored"with this car.I was totally into driving vs bike or bus , I said how much he said 75.00 BUT I had to go out to La Grange,Or AND the car had been sitting for about 9 years long story shorter we went ,he threw a battery in it,a gallon of gas and the car started right uP. I FILLED THE TANK DROVE 300 PLUS MILES AND HAD JUST OVER A 1/4TH TANK WHEN I GOT TO VANCOUVER , I drove that car into the ground for 9 months and then pushed it into the scrap yard got 150 back on the investment. so all you haters out there well you know ! ! !??????
