I love these trucks- the pre-Explorer Explorer. Dig the Mach I hood stripe. I have a '79 and they really ride like a truck- no IFS. The twin I-beam suspension gives new meaning to 'pain in the ass'. As usual- good job guys.
Somehow I missed the profile that day, but luckily I was in the neighborhood yesterday and got it. Now with water-heavy tarp and a Suburban's tow hitch caressing the front bumper.
Love it! Readers will think I'm crazy, but I know my late 60's - early 80's cars. This is a 1975 model. The Explorer stripe changed every year, and I'm positive the "wrap over the hood" stripe was '75. The fact that this truck has never been repainted is amazing! What a find!
For those wondering, Ford offered 3 trim levels on '73-'79 pick-ups. Custom, Ranger, and Ranger XLT. Explorer was an option package for the Custom. It included the stripe, the hood ornament, upgraded upholstery, simulated-mag full wheel covers, and the Ranger XLT tailgate treatment. It made the bare-bones Custom a little more sporty, back when pick-ups were just starting to become quite popular
